Tree of Life I

Tree of Life I is an acrylic painting on panel of a Pear Tree. A Pear Tree symbolizes divine sustenance, abundance, and longevity due to its fruitfulness and association with the female form. In Chinese culture, it is associated with immortality and eternal life.

This painting is the first in a series of six symbolic ‘Tree of Life’ tree paintings. Created using acrylics and framed in reclaimed wood from a very old porch from the Church Hill neighborhood in Richmond, VA. The neighborhood is the oldest in the city with houses dating back to the 1700’s.

The framing was done by noted musician Greta Brinkman whose history includes stints with Moby, Blondie, and L7. She uses reclaimed wood from many of the historic homes in Richmond.
